*sound of blowing the dust off of an old book*

Woah... It's been a long time. I mean, longer than the Crack'd pot. I guess my life: Exams and other such nonsense had got the better of me, and since I am now free for a long long time, I guess it's about time it all returned!

So what I'm saying is soon enough, Life and Times, and hopefully the Crack'd pot will return, I have just over 2 weeks until my final exam, and may manage to hit an article out by then. then it should be back to being weekly! fingers crossed!

Ciao.

Time goes by, so do chances.

SO, if you're a reader of the crack'd pot (and if you're reading this and you aren't a reader; why the hell not, it's much better than this one) you'll have caught my last blog, my 30th, but what it held in numerical value it didn't in content, so this is a little explanation for why I was absent last week and why I'm late this week.

Ok so last week I was sort of stressed, and I wasn't in any particular mood to write, and instead of giving you a late entry, I thought I would give myself a holiday.

This week I realised that you couldn't have two weeks without a decent article to read, and the only reason I didn't write anything last night was because I was setting up my new net book, which is what I'm writing on now... like right now.

So that's my explanations, and there will be a new Crack'd pot tonight, I promise.

Netbook is so pretty.

SURPRISE! Original Topic

So.
Valentines.

He can feck right off right?

I know this topic will be saturating cyberspace today. But to be honest, I'm not fussed, I'm just a guy who likes to write. And what better to write about than a "Hot Topic".

So I didn't really mean what I said about Valentines, I don't mind him really, he was a nice guy, never hurt me in anyway. Basically I've got no beef with the fella.
Actually... Reading up about it... I Dont WANT beef with the fella:

"Valentinus tried to convert the Emperor -- whereupon this priest was condemned to death. He was beaten with clubs and stoned; when that didn't finish him, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate."

This guy was a bad ass!
From now on Valentine's day is the celebration of a guy who got beaten to shit, then survived, then had his head chopped off. I bet he was still going after that! Imagine:
"Hey Emperor, I'd like to talk to you about jesus"
"Kill him!"
*beaten with sticks*
"But he turned water into alcohol! You were a student Sire! Imagine how useful that would have been!"
"Kill him again!"
*Axe to the head*
"Just take this leaflet!"

But anyway, So, for the 17th year of my life (of which I have 17) I am single again for Valentines day, I'm pretty sure I have a natural disposition to this being single on the 14th.

To be honest, it's not bothered me, maybe because I've just got out of a relationship that I'm taking it easy, as just another day - I mean a celebration of a badass.

Oh that's right, I'm single.

Never before...

Has a tag line been more appropriate "an inconsistent look" Yeah that's about right, it's been almost 3 weeks since my last entry!

Anyway something that quickly crossed my mind wondering around facebook, as is the style nowadays I believe, on top of the plethora of groups that make little or no sense, or are for mundane things like "I woke up this morning and didn't want to get out of bed".

A lot of the population of facebook are students, this isn't anything special, this is in our nature as layabout lollygaggers.

But it was the use of the term "Lol'd".
Now I use this all the time, in a joke context of course, I merely mock the lower classes, but I only just really took apart that phrase. Think about it.

LOL/Lol/lol stands for Laugh Out Loud (Not Lots Of Love MUM)

And so the have the elided past tense suffix "'d" here, obviously to put it into past tense, as seen in "Lol'd".

But here's were the youth and acronyms get confusing.

When we say "Lol'd": the elided past tense suffix is attached to the last L, which means that is the word it is modifying is "Loud" which means that when we say "I Lol'd" we are saying "I laugh out louded", which as you can see, makes no sense.

On the other hand we cant say "I L'edol" because who could pronounce that?

Oh well.

What a 48 hours!

Ok, so first of all I've had a manic toothache for weeks and weeks (verging on months now) and today I finally got to see a dentist about the beggar, turns out it's really bad and they may have to amputate. I mean root canal. which if you don't know is where the lovely dentist man takes out your tooth's nerve and replaces it with rubber, meaning the tooth is effectively "dead" but still usable, unlike the other treatment I was offered: "Rip the rat bastard out".
the reason it's got to this stage is because I'm not a fan of dentists, for my own reasons, and now I've given up playing nice with them and I am now speaking my mind to the drill toting buggers. luckily this dentist wasn't too bad (Jon, his name was)he understood (after looking at the tooth) that I was in A LOT of pain, and sympathised, but the one conversation that sticks out from our meeting is this one:

"Jesus Joe, this is bad, I can see why you've had sleepless nights! How come you didn't come in sooner?"
"I fecking hate dentists"
*looking at the drill he's holding*
"Fair enough, open wide"

On the upside, last night, to preoccupy my pain i went to a gig, not just any gig though, my first Ska punk gig, featuring Sonic Boom 6, Big D and the Kids table and the very very awesome Reel Big Fish.

It was as amazing as I could have hoped, and I had a brilliant night, even managed to sort of high 5 Aaron from RBF, which is cool. they have such a stage personality and presence which the live CD doesn't capture.

Here's a video of RBF's cover of Take On Me, and pictures might be up later if i can steal them from Charlie.

Back on the old grind

So, Today I finally got back to college, after almost an entire week stuck in the middle of now where with the snow (I live in the middle of no where, I didn;t wander out into the wilderness.)

So apart from the occasional walk in the white the snow has been good for one thing by my books, and that is in fact, my book.
I started writitng it a while ago, and while im not exciting enough to have memoirs, I am creative enough to have a novel, based on pac man.

So being back at college is a good fun time, and it's excellent seeing everyone again but for 1 reason and one reason alone i want to be at home, and that is Chuck.

Chuck season 3 returned last night for a 2 hour special, which has got me thouroughly excited.

Now apart from my internal struggles between good and evil I seem to be working rather well (not in college of course)
now off to look at some mobile typing equipement.

So, Snow.

Ok, so it's late, the snow I mean, not the time, it's in fact midday and I should be in college. For the 3rd day in a row I'm out of college and I'm a bit bored. I've got exams in weeks!

But in all fairness, it's allowed me to get on with this, which is a project that I've wanted to do for a while. A more personalised blog for me.

So here are some pictures of the white stuff which has allowed me to write this, and ultimately fail my exams.
